Hello! My name is Kate Herbert and I am a Registered, Masters-level Social Worker and Therapist, with over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health and wellness. I work with all ages of clients, from children and teens, through to adults (including both individuals and couples). My approach is founded on a strengths-based, client-centered and trauma-informed perspective. I support my clients in identifying places where they are ‘stuck’ and assist them in crafting goals to improve their quality of life.
In my work with clients, I apply my training in areas such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Emotionally-Focused Therapy; Solution focused Counselling; Attachment theory; Mindfulness; Internal Family Systems; Trauma-informed practice; Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Critical Incident Stress Management, among others.
I work with children, teens and adults experiencing life challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and life stress. Additionally, I support individuals grappling with life transitions, relationship concerns and parenting challenges, as well as those experiencing grief, loss and a wide range of other concerns. I support my clients to gain greater self awareness and to identify patterns of thought and behavior that may be ‘getting in the way’ of a fulfilling life. I encourage my clients to set realistic goals and to work intentionally towards these goals with the support of a well crafted plan.
