Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I would benefit from counselling?

People can always utilize someone to talk to who is outside their circle. Someone who can help you ask yourself tough questions, see things from a different angle and offer a supportive safe place to tell your story.

Are you certified with a professional organization?

All our professionals have a Masters in Counselling Psychology, Psy.D. or Ph.D. level education. All our Psychologists and Provisional Psychologists are Registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Our Clinical Counsellors are Registered and Licensed with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

How long are the sessions?
Most individual sessions are 50-60 minutes. If you feel you need a longer session, this can be discussed on intake. EMDR therapy is 60-90 minutes.
How much are counselling sessions?

The Sagacious team consists of Registered Psychologists, Provisional Psychologists, Clinical Counsellors and Clinical Social workers so the cost of your session would be determined upon intake based on your practitioner need, insurance coverage and slide scale availability.

Does my insurance cover my session?

Most insurance companies do cover counselling sessions. We can direct bill to some insurance companies.

How long will I need counselling?
Many clients feel better with a situational concern after only one session. When people have a good first session, they may wish to come back to look at other areas of mental health or emotional wellness where they feel stuck. At that time, the counsellor and client can collaborate as to what type of therapy will be used and for how long.
What age groups do you work with?

At Sagacious we work with children (5+), older teens (16+) and adults.

Is my counselling confidential?

Yes, your session is confidential unless you are a harm to yourself, a harm to others or subpoenaed to court.
In all instances, Sagacious supports you through the process.
